BOOK DESCRIPTION

With Urlick (Babbit) imprisoned, awaiting execution for the alleged murder of Professor Smrt, Eyelet (Elsworth) must find her way back through the criminal infested woods, among the blood-thirsty Infirmed, to the forbidden city of Brethren, in time to free him from his fate.

With the help of Crazy Legs, Eyelet overthrows a travelling freak show train on its way into Brethren, planning to use the train to distract the city long enough to free Urlick. Just as they think their luck is about to hold, Eyelet is lured astray by an image from her past. Entering an abandoned factory at the city's edge, she unearths a series of ungodly secrets, and soon finds herself imprisoned.

With Urlick locked away in the Stone Jug and Eyelet on her way to MadHouse Brink, will C.L. be able to spring both loose in time to save the day? Or will he too, fall prey to the torturous mind of Brethren's newest Ruler—who is, in fact, a self-appointed heir to the throne.

It appears there is an heir that’s been overlooked. An heir the new ruler is determined to keep secret.

A Steamy Steampunk Fantasy Romance Adventure Novel, NOIR is book two of THE ILLUMINATION PARADOX SERIES. A Science Fiction romp through "...one of the most inventive story worlds I've read in years..." Donald Maass (Writing the Breakout Novel) featuring contraptions and creatures unique only to Garlick's magical creative fiction. Dark and mysterious, this YA novel reads like the love child of Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow and L. Frank Baum's Wizard of Oz, with just a splash of Quentin Tarantino's audacity thrown in. Fans of Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments Series will enjoy this novel.

AUTHOR BIO

In 2005, well into her career as a teacher, Jacqueline was place in a portable teaching building filled with black toxic mould. That was the end of that. What followed was nothing short of a nightmare, as she battled the negligent school board until she eventually left the teaching profession in 2007, to begin a new career. She followed her life-long passion to become an author, and by 2008, she was accepted into Ellen Hopkins famed Nevada Mentoring Program (a blind entry) and from there landed a top agent in the industry. Since then, Jacqueline has published four (soon to be five) novels in two separate series, and won two awards for her work. Lumière—A Romantic Steampunk Fantasy Adventure—Book One of The Illumination Paradox Series, won the prestigious LYRA award, for Best Young Adult Novel 2014, and was also awarded an Indie B.R.A.G Medallion, and given the title of B.R.A.G Medallion Honoree. An early excerpt of Lumière, also won the prestigious 2012 Don Maass Break Out Novel Intensive Scholarship.

Jacqueline loves strong heroines, despises whiny sidekicks and adores a good story about a triumphant underdog. Doesn’t everyone? As a writer, she has studied under some of the greats, including best selling author’s James Scott Bell, Disney Story Guru Christopher Vogler and the infamous, Donald Maass–author of Writing The Break Out Novel.

Jacqueline enjoys hearing from her readers, and is available for skype meetings, interviews and appearances. You can contact Jacqueline here:
